Sample SIA Reports

Sports Institute of Analytics, LLC services will provide a finalized product that includes your roster of available players ranked by their respective SIA (Sports Institute of Analytics) Score.  An SIA score is based upon a series of algorithms that consider statistics and Big Data.  The higher the SIA score, the better team player he or she will be for each particular game based upon your roster and your opposing team's most expected game plan that day based upon statistical models of both teams in real time.

This will allow you as Team Manager to set your Line-up and roster changes through out the game based upon these SIA scores.  You will not be encumbered by volumes of sheets and data and have to analyze all those numbers.  Sports Institute of Analytics does all the analyzing of statistics and Big Data for you and provides you with 1 simple cumulative SIA score per player that has been field tested for over 21 years.

Description of SIA Services
  • Baseball/Softball:
1. Bullpen Management - Our most requested service because most teams do not have a Pitching Coach or if they do, that pitching coach is best at developing pitchers and not game management. Our sabermetric algorithms take the guess work out of the equation of who to bring in from the bullpen to best protect the lead or Hold the score.
Following is a Bullpen Management report for the MLB Astros game vs. the Indians on May 27, 2018 (Astros' organization did not pay for the report and did not use it.  Mr. Cole probably wishes they had.)

Scroll over the upper right hand corner to click a Pop out button to see the full report on a new page or Scroll down the right side of the report to see the full page.  Also, you can Zoom in by scrolling over the center lower portion of the report with your mouse to pop up the zoom feature.

For comparison, review the SIA Scores from the above Bullpen Management report and see how the World Champion Astros could have managed their Bullpen more effectively during this game vs. the Indians.  For instance Ken Giles was brought in to close the 9th inning using antiquated management techniques.  However, if the Astros would have had the above Bullpen Management report from Sports Institute of Analytics summarizing the SIA Scores based on advanced sabermetrics algorithms, they would have seen that normal Astros Closer K. Giles should not have entered the game that day vs. the Indians.

Below are portions of the Box Score for the Astros vs. the Indians MLB game on May 27, 2018
Sure enough K. Giles gave up 3 hits without recording an out and the Astros lost a 5 run lead in the 9th.

Important Game Strategy Guidelines that may have provided a win for the Astros over the Indians on May 27, 2018 could have started with SIA Scores from Sports Institute of Analytics.  Proper Bullpen Management utilizing the SIA Scores is to bring in the Relief Pitchers with the highest SIA Scores for that day only.  The higher the SIA Score, the better probability of success of holding the score or protecting the lead based upon current available statistics of both teams for this day.  Only Relief Pitchers with an SIA Score above the baseline of 300 should be considered for that days Bullpen rotation. As you can see from the box score above, several Astros relief pitchers saw the mound that should not have that day vs. the Indians lineup.
2. Starting Lineup - Sports Institute of Analytics will analyze your box scores for you as well as your opposing team's expected game plan and provide an efficient run producing batting order for each game independently.  Also included will be the suggested pinch hitters as needed.
3. Starting Pitcher and Catcher Battery Mates - If your pitcher relies heavily on your catcher to call the pitches during the game, then it is important to have your best signal caller along with your best pitcher for that day.  Sports Institute of Analytics' advanced sabermetrics algorithms will provide you with the best pair of battery mates as well as the best back-ups as needed.  Ask most any pitcher that throws a shutout and he will congratulate his catcher on a great game called.
Starting pitchers can have incredible match-up success.  Take for instance Roy Oswalt - he began his career with 23 wins and only 1 loss vs. the Cincinnati Reds.  Why, because he matched up very well against the Reds in several categories.  If more managers paid more attention to more match-up categories instead of just lefty vs. righty, they may be as successful as Roy Oswalt was to began his career against the Cincinnati Reds.

Sports Institute of Analytics' algorithms consider those various match-ups and then summarizes them into a single game by game SIA Score.

Let's take a look at former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel's 2018 SIA Scores for several games. Note in the below summary that an SIA Score Baseline™ below 300 has been marked with a bold outline box. These are games that Dallas Keuchel's sabermetrics indicated BEFORE the game that his historical game approach would not be effective in that day's match-up. Note games with SIA Scores above 300 resulted in Pitcher and Team Wins while SIA Scores below 300 resulted in Pitcher and Team Losses.
